2011 Recap: 7th Annual Florida Entertainment Summit

 


 Just three years shy of its 10-year milestone, the 7th Annual Florida Entertainment Summit [FES] took place in Downtown Miami this past weekend December 8-10, 2011.  The kick-off event for this year’s summit took place at Club Eve Miami with a night of music, art and fashion hosted by none other than hip-hop icon Monie Love with the soundtrack provided by Lucky C of the Jam Squad DJs. New School met True School as Monie Love schooled music enthusiasts with hits from the late 80’s and early 90’s from Biggie Smalls to a Tribe Called Quest, infused with that classic no holds bar Monie style as models ripped the runway wearing the trendsetting fashion lines of emerging designers Kinsey London and Yasser Faraco.

The fashion show produced by E. Mackey helped to merge music and live art with the world of women’s fashion which featured an awesome line up of emerging female artist performing through out the night some of the performers included Jazzie Rhia, Sarah Love neo-soul songstress LyriqTye and hailing all the way from the DMV MC Sunny Moné.
Year after year, Florida Entertainment Summit’s Music Day is the most sought out day of events through out the weekend. This year rather then having traditional panel discussions at the host hotel, guest got a chance to see city, with events taking place in various locations in the heart of Downtown Miami. Flo Rida’s International Music Group/ Strong Arm [IMG/Strong Arm] hosted this year’s Artist/Executive Speed Networking Lounge with an edition of their fan favorite Good Feeling Friday’s at Crescendo Jazz Lounge. Those in attendance had the opportunity to rub elbows with top-level label executives, platinum producers and artist. In attendance for the Artist/Executive Networking event were Fernando Watson, Rodney Kohn, Grammy Award winner Monie Love, producer Drumma Boy, Bigga Rankin and a host of others.

The next stop took everyone to the Double Tree by Marriott Bleu Moon lounge where Team Bigga Rankin, Street Connect DJs and Coast2Coast DJs hosted an invite only Drop Lounge sponsored by 365Voice.com featuring rapper 2Chainz. After all of that there was only one place that could handle all of the celebs and executives that stopped by the day’s events; Club Play. Multi-Platinum award winning producer Drumma Boy hosted the official music day after party at Club Play South Beach with artist dropping in through out the night.

 Platinum Recording Artist Trina joined forces with the Florida Entertainment Summit for the second year in a row to give back this holiday season with the 4th Annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive in an effort to bring joy to children at His House, Inc foster home and the children at Holtz Children’s Hospital. The event featured a private dinner sponsored by Vibe Magazine, Live-N-Direct Multimedia, Ace Magazine in association with Trina’s Diamond Doll Foundation. Trina was poised with grace fitting the reigning Queen of Miami as she laughed and danced with those in attendance, stopping to take pictures and sign autographs for all those who asked.



 
Trina humbly thanked everyone involved with making the night a success, commending all of her guest for their great show of support.

2010 Recap
Florida Entertainment Summit’s Teen Summit, Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Benefit


Florida’s premier entertainment networking event the 6th Annual Florida Entertainment Summit took place in Miami, FL this past weekend Dec. 9-11, 2010. The weekend conference kicked off with The Teen Summit which featured a panel discussion on the impact of violence in media on youth and film screenings by filmmakers R. Malcolm Jones “Magic City” and Hometeam Entertainment’s James Bland and Vanessa Baden “Cocoa Love”. Journalist and Author Peter Bailey also joined the filmmakers on the panel discussion which was moderated by istandardproducers.com co-founder J Hatch. Teen Summit concluded when the teens, consisting of students from The Children’s Trust Student Advisory Committee and students from The Resource Room, received a surprise visit from Rainforest Film Co-Founder & Chairman Will Packer (Producer of “Takers”, “Obsessed”, “Stomp The Yard” & a host of others.

The Teen Summit rolled right into The Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Benefit which kicked off with a keynote address by Will Packer. The Rainforest Films Co-Founder expressed to participants that success is personally defined, sharing anecdotes about what it took to pull off his first film and answering questions during a Q&A moderated by WEDR personality Lorenzo Ice-T Thomas. Emerging filmmakers Lorenzo Thomas “Perfect Peace”, Darren Saunders “Makeup”, R. Malcolm Jones “Magic City”, Curtis Ballard “Bagdad”, Regina Bennet “One Small Thing” and James Bland & Vanessa Baden “Cocoa Love” films received rave reviews after the screening.

Before the film screenings, North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre recognized Chef Wilkinson “Ken”Sejour for his philanthropy throughout Miami Dade County. Sejour was also honored with ACE Magazine’s “Power of Influence” Award for his charity involvement in South Florida and Haiti. Maranatha Community Center, a 501c3 non profit organization was The Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Charity Partner.  Deepside Entertainment recording group Goons United by the New School donated $500 to assist in the organizations Haiti Mission and Will Packer pledged an additional $1,000 to the organization on behalf of himself and his Rainforest Films Company.

Recording Artist Trina Hosts Jingle Bell Toy Drive at the

Platinum Recording Artist Trina joined forces with Florida’s most anticipated entertainment industry event the Florida Entertainment Summit to give back this holiday season. Trina’s Diamond Doll Foundation, Kim’s Closet Boutique and Billionaire Mafia clothing all in association with the 6thAnnual Florida Entertainment Summit joined forces to showcase emerging fashion designers, models and visual artists while giving back to the community; for an evening of holiday fashion.

The 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive held at Club Play South Beach emceed by WEDR 99 Jamz radio personality Felisha Monet successfully displayed this season’s most fashion forward trends while collecting unwrapped toys for Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association. Mike Christmas of Christmas Concepts International donated over $8000 worth of custom holiday décor which guest were able to see created live during the runway show as well as place bids to further support the Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association.during the holiday season.

The event concluded with Platinum Producer Young Yonny, who has worked closely with Trina through out the years most recently on her album “Amazin” presenting the original Diamond Doll with Ace Magazine’s “Power of Influence” award.  Trina humbly thanked everyone involved with making the night a success commending all of her guest for supporting the 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive providing Miami-Dade county foster kids with truckloads of toys this holiday season.
