Florida Entertainment Summit’s Teen Summit, Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Benefit

Florida’s premier entertainment networking event the 6th Annual Florida Entertainment Summit took place in Miami, FL this past weekend Dec. 9-11, 2010. The weekend conference kicked off with The Teen Summit which featured a panel discussion on the impact of violence in media on youth and film screenings by filmmakers R. Malcolm Jones “Magic City” and Hometeam Entertainment’s James Bland and Vanessa Baden “Cocoa Love”. Journalist and Author Peter Bailey also joined the filmmakers on the panel discussion which was moderated by istandardproducers.com co-founder J Hatch. Teen Summit concluded when the teens, consisting of students from The Children’s Trust Student Advisory Committee and students from The Resource Room, received a surprise visit from Rainforest Film Co-Founder & Chairman Will Packer (Producer of “Takers”, “Obsessed”, “Stomp The Yard” & a host of others.

The Teen Summit rolled right into The Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Benefit which kicked off with a keynote address by Will Packer. The Rainforest Films Co-Founder expressed to participants that success is personally defined, sharing anecdotes about what it took to pull off his first film and answering questions during a Q&A moderated by WEDR personality Lorenzo Ice-T Thomas. Emerging filmmakers Lorenzo Thomas “Perfect Peace”, Darren Saunders “Makeup”, R. Malcolm Jones “Magic City”, Curtis Ballard “Bagdad”, Regina Bennet “One Small Thing” and James Bland & Vanessa Baden “Cocoa Love” films received rave reviews after the screening.

Chef Wilkinson “Ken”Sejour & North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre

Before the film screenings, North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre recognized Chef Wilkinson “Ken”Sejour for his philanthropy throughout Miami Dade County. Sejour was also honored with ACE Magazine’s “Power of Influence” Award for his charity involvement in South Florida and Haiti. Maranatha Community Center, a 501c3 non profit organization was The Cinema Lounge & Remembering Haiti Charity Partner. Deepside Entertainment recording group Goons United by the New School donated $500 to assist in the organizations Haiti Mission and Will Packer pledged an additional $1,000 to the organization on behalf of himself and his Rainforest Films Company.

Trina’s Diamond Doll Foundation, Kim’s Closet Boutique and Billionaire Mafia clothing all in association with the 6thAnnual Florida Entertainment Summit joined forces to showcase emerging fashion designers, models and visual artists while giving back to the community; for an evening of holiday fashion.

The 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive held at Club Play South Beach emceed by WEDR 99 Jamz radio personality Felisha Monet successfully displayed this season’s most fashion forward trends while collecting unwrapped toys for Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association. Mike Christmas of Christmas Concepts International donated over $8000 worth of custom holiday décor which guest were able to see created live during the runway show as well as place bids to further support the Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association.during the holiday season.

The event concluded with Platinum Producer Young Yonny, who has worked closely with Trina through out the years most recently on her album “Amazin” presenting the original Diamond Doll with Ace Magazine’s “Power of Influence” award. Trina humbly thanked everyone involved with making the night a success commending all of her guest for supporting the 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive providing Miami-Dade county foster kids with truckloads of toys this holiday season.

Raised in the Progress Village, a community filled with bad influences helped to create the hustlers mentality of Tampa native Carlton Wallace better known as C-money. "Its not all positive but it made me who I am" C-money speaks of his neighborhood. Street life came natural to C Money as a result to his environment, but he wanted out. Music “I needed it and it needed me” he says. C-Money began writing music chronicling his experiences, releasing his first mixtape in 2006 “Grams of Anything”, catapulting him into the Tampa music scene. Before that Bailey worked as a staff writer for the Miami Herald covering pop culture and urban affairs. In 2008 he won an Associated Press Sports Editors award for investigative writing. His ongoing series, On the Margins, won multiple awards in 2006 from the Society of Professional Journalists. He also won for best criminal law reporting for the series, Dying Young, detailing black on black violence.

He was also awarded “best enterprising reporting” by the National Association of Black Journalists for a series on incarcerated kids, Shackled Education.
